New Mix-Pre Mount - detail views
This is a bracket designed to hold a Sound Device's Mix-Pre or Shure FP24 to Sony PD150 or PD170 and Sony VX2000 or VX2100. Here is what the empty bracket looks like:

The mount holds the MixPre without any modifications made to the case! Now you can marry your favorite mixer to your PD150 or VX2000 and get great sound without any hassle of separate equipment. Here is what the combo looks like with a customers PD150:

The mount is made of aluminum that is both light weight and sturdy. I prefer to chemically clean surface and put a protector dip coating that does not chip off, as paint does. On the bottom is a threaded insert for standard 1/4-20 screw for tripod mounting. There is screw clearance for up to 3/8" inch screw:

Removing the mixer from the mount is easy. Use supplied allen key to loosen 2 stainless steel button-head screws on the top and bottom of the left hand support as shown:

Now slide the left hand support to the left, moving away from MixPre. Now spin the support clockwise (looking from top side) away from MixPre as shown:

The left hand support should look as shown after the above step:

Note that the MixPre is held in place by exact location and position of the front supports. The Left bracket slides and wedges the MixPre in place so there is no movement. If desired, the MixPre can be screwed in place to the brackets with a 4-40 screw through the MixPre built-in strap holes.
With the support moved, slide the MixPre toward the front all the way so the battery compartment hits the right hand support. Now, tilt the left side out first, and remove the MixPre from the mount.

With the MixPre out of the bracket, use supplied allen key to release MixPre bracket from camera. Insert allen key as shown through tripod mounting hole up to camera mounting button-head screw as shown here:

Now remove camera from mount. Note that the mounting screw is held in place with ring that does not interfere with camera mount. There is also a cap screw that mates with camera to keep it from turning as shown here:
