Here are come comments from satisfied customers:

Greg put together a DVD of slides of our wedding from 32 years ago. My slide projector was not working properly and for many years these slides have been sitting on a shelf for no one to enjoy these memories.
I organized the slides in a certain order, picked out music and even asked Greg to show a certain slide just as a particular lyric of a song was being played. Greg did an outstanding job and did everything just as I had requested.
The first time my husband and I viewed the DVD we sat on the couch and cried. It was so professionaly done - right down to the container that holds the CD. Greg displayed pictures of our wedding all around the casing with our wedding date shown.

If you want to capture your memories to have for years go come, let Greg Winter be the one to produce it for you. We are extremely pleased with his work and have shared our wedding DVD with friends & relatives. We hope to have Greg do other work for us in the years to come.

I finally had a chance to watch this wonderful video and I agree with everyone's enthusiastic praises! I cannot wait to show it to our ImageOut audience and I am sure it will be well-received. I am putting together our trailer package and I want to make sure that we play this in screenings with guests so they can appreciate our city even more.

I think it was perfect timing that Gerry just recommended Greg to possibly do the ImageOut trailer. It came in handy when Bill and company were asking for "videographers" for their welcome and introduction video. And just like everything else in this year's festival, it worked perfectly. Thanks for all your hard work!

See you at the movies!

The video, excuse me I need to update myself, the DVD is so beautiful!!! Ryanna’s parents were overwhelmed. Sheila kept yelling look at that and Bill couldn’t speak. We watched it 4 times, 2 before gong to dinner and two after. They stopped at my house on Sunday and my son and soon to be daughter-in-law were there and we watched it again! Each time seeing something we missed before.

You did a wonderful job as I knew you would but thank you just the same. I would love to get a copy - just let me know what it will cost.

Greg dropped off two dvds of the "City of Rochester Welcomes IAMGEOUT 2004",
and I popped one in the DVD drive and watched it. I must say this is a very,
very good high quality piece of work, and I applaud you all for your work on
this.

Cheers,

Bruce

Asolutely bloody amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clear as a bell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally received the camera and ran a quick test .. I have the xlr connected on the mix pre (yes I was a pig) (oink) and the level with the 1k tone was -20 on the camera. I have the gain set at 11 oclock on the mix pre and I'm using an oktava. No matter how loud I speak the camera doesn't seem to clip at all..

Wow! I am so impressed. You did a magnificent job.
I showed it to my co-workers here at UB and they all
said the same thing.

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for all
of your efforts. You accomplished what I could only
dream of - a welcoming video that showcases Rochester
and our community.

I am debly indebted to you for producing such a
wonderful video, as well as a warm welcome, to
everyone who will be attending the Film Festival this
year.

I just got my PD150 back from Greg, and I must say I'm very impressed with the results.

My camera is an earlier model, built before the original sound upgrade. I looked into getting the upgrade of course, but when I asked the techs at Sony Canada about it, they did not fill me with confidence... at first they didn't know what I was talking about, then after bumbling around with the manuals for a while, finally said it would be four hours at CDN $120 an hour, and then another $100 or so for 18 parts - extra capacitors and whatever to reroute the sound. Add tax and shipping and we were looking at around US $500. Most significantly though, none of them had ever done it before. While I felt I needed better sound, I'm the kind of guy who doesn't like getting jammed or pushed around. For example, I can easily afford 15 - 20 bucks for a popcorn and a diet pop at the movies - I just won't pay it anymore. In the case of my hissy cam - I prefered to spend almost 2 thousand dollars more on a good mixer, top quality mics, and good cables, and try to deal with the problem that way.
(My PD150 by the way, is about 200 serial numbers away from when they made the sound upgrade. My Sound devices mix-pre is fifty numbers away from when they made their upgrade. You can see that my instincts are good - just my timing sucks)
Don't get me wrong, I love my 150. And I actually get a kick out of owning a HACKED 150! The sound change is impressive. Anyone passing through Toronto, is welcome drop by and have a listen. But Sony is on notice... They better smarten up on the next go-round or my next PD150 is going to be made by Panasonic.

Cheers
Paul

I tried a quick test with my new mix pre and with the 1 k tone at line out the VU showed 0db and the camera input at -20. I plugged the Oktava 012 with a hyper and set the gain to peak at +4, . The sound was absolutely clean. I tried it peaking at +8 on the meter and around 0 on the camera display, again absolutely beautiful.

Re: Winterized pd150 before & after

I had a chance to measure the result of Greg Winter's mods to a PD150.

These were by 'remote control': I sent Greg test signals as files, he burned to an audio CD, recorded in the camera, captured and then sent back to me. Then I measured them with an ATB+.

So there's room for shenanigans, if he wanted to cook the files to make them look better. But I doubt he did. Everything about the mod and Greg appears to be on the level.

Results are impressive:

THD+N, re 1 kHz @ -12 dBFS
before mod: 0.18%
after mod: 0.03%

S/N, A weighted, re -12 dBFS
before mod: 56.8dB
after mod: 75.5dB
Add 12 dB for dynamic range

The above are even better when you consider the 'befores' were done with the PD150's line-level input, which is much better than its mic in. (Post mod, of course, uses an external mic preamp like the SD MixPre.)
